"..weekend action (a.k.a one helluva long post with pictures).."
Saturday

I decided to, well , actually not “decide” per se but I thought it’d be good practice for me to go check out the Singapore Waterfest 2007. I mean there’s a lot of things going on and there would be a lot of subjects to shoot. There wasn’t much of a crowd, not as much as I’d thought there would be anyway. I took a glance at the programme and the highlights of the day were,
- Stars of China Professional Waterski show
- Wakeskate/Wakeboard Rail Jam Competition
- Jetsports Supercourse Team Challenge
- Subaru Waterfest Urban Race
- Splash Battlezone
- Dragon Boat Race
ok so let’s start with the events I did not get to shoot (or decided not to).
I arrived on scene at almost 2:00 p.m. and there was a slight drizzle despite the sun being out in full force. As I walked onto the Floating Stage, a group of people ran past me like bats out of hell. These guys, I found out later, were the competitors in the Subaru Waterfest Urban Race. Essentially it’s a treasure hunt on wheels (Amazing Race style).
Annnnd we move on to Splash Battlezone. This even has potential to be a nice, fun, action packed occasion but it in the ends it just trickles… literally.
Then then announcement comes through, STARS OF CHINA PROFESSIONAL WATERSKI SHOW!!!.. I thought yeah why not so I made my way to the water line..

Is it just me or does the second girl on the left look like the Ah-so I buy cigarettes from at my void deck provision shop?

This to me looked pretty ordinary, or was I expecting too much
The thing about the show is, mediocre as it was, there was always the play by play SCREAMED into the microphone in Mandarin . I mean , dude, it’s a microphone. You’re loud enough no need to shout. The least you could do is run the play by play in ENGLISH.
Done with the show I twaddled over to Jetski area. The dragon boats were prepping for their run.

Team Canada at the finish line
Right about then I began to feel a little self conscious. I was surrounded by dudes lugging really expensive photo equipment, whilst I was walking around only with Diaz (yeah I named it Diaz .. don’t ask why) and her kit telephoto lens. Then I heard the engines.. .. oooh JET SKI!!!!

Time then was almost 4:00p.m. and I was getting a wee bit hungry. since I was waiting for Rita, I just got myself a drink or two (4 actually) and made my way to the Wakeskate Rail Jam pool. The heat is on (SEARING heat) and the qualifiying round was just about to start.

that’s pretty much what I did on Saturday. Met Rita afterwards .. had dinner .. we chilled out abit..
Sunday
Was up bright and early Sunday morning to join the team for a match at Pei Hwa Secondary school in Sengkang. Again took some pictures..

also must not forget the SUPPORTERS!!!
