“..a sneak peak..”

a little preview
Something I am kinda working on at the moment. It’s not very big.. but I’m excited about it all the same.. …
“printing is not a problem.. it’s the time i need to collate.. “
*sigh*

C.U.F.C at Old Trafford...
And that’s why they call it .. the Theatre of Dreams…
haha.. ok they all gathered for a little photo taking yesterday, and I couldn’t help but use the oppurtunity to put in a little exercise in channel masking techniques. and some other stuff.. OBVIOUSLY i still have a long way to go with the masking, as there are some glaring irregularities that stick out like a sore thumb.. BUT.. it did come out pretty good on a 4R print, and admit.. at a glance.. it almost looks real..
almost..

“.. C.U.F.C ..”
It’s a slow day at work today. With Bangkok down, and now Chiangmai and maybe Phuket, there is no cargo coming in from and going to Bangkok. That gives me almost nothing to do. So decided to take up a challenge from Dad and the soccer boys to design a logo for the team.. the club.. the Family Club… so to speak.. So i played around abit.. and this is what I’ve got..

CUFC
I feel just so-so about it.. btw.. anyone know how i can round off the edges of the stylized CU (red) .. its corners are abit harsh need to soften the thing abit..

“.. photoshop monkey..”
I wanna be one.. Really.. Having friends like Marah and Hartini.. i wonder in amazement at their post process workflow and results. A few days back, a picture Hartini worked on caught my attention.
so this post is roughly my attempt to replicate that.. ok don’t call me copycat (ok so yes i am) but when I see something i really like done to a picture.. I usually want to be able to do it and add it to my workflow when the need calls for it..
first we need a donor picture..
I went with this image cuz.. yeah it generally gives me a time frame of 30 plus years to work with. A bit believable lah.. My first order of business was the colour treatment.. and soften the image a fair bit cuz well let’s be honest no matter how good your camera was/were in the past.. prints are never going to be THAT sharp..also decided not to do a border like H’s image..i am visualising a picture in the mid 70’s – early 80’s here and yeah.. (also because i kinda suck at framing).. .. and from there we get this..

Steps 1 - 3 .. Colour Treatment.. Lens Blur.. Dodge/Burn
now comes the bit i have NO idea what to do.. lol.. the texture.. *die.* i huffed and i puffed.. .the house shuddered and shook but it did not come down..and i got this..

Step 4 -3456791672... i kinda of went off the tangent.. and yeah..
lol.. i have a niggling feeling .. the texture is not. just quite right (dripping with sarcasm) .. duh!
All these I did yesterday.. and .. this morning i thought.. hey better ask H permission to use her image first..H, mails back about the image.. and gives me a heads up on how she did it.. and with her tips… and a little something extra she attached in the mail.. lol .. i got this..

I continued from Step 4.. looks like a pre WWII image.. I missed the 70's by a LONG SHOT!!..
ever determined to hit my time zone.. i went back to the original picture.. with a different colour treatment..and i FINALLY found the “picture i took on the day Changi Airport was officially opened to the public!”.. hehehehe

Picture Taken 29 December 1981
Thanks H .. hur this journey of discovery yesterday and today was much funly fun.. I am wondering if i could emulate the Pre-War styled image to a portrait.. hmm will try later..
