“.. nobody here but us servantless mortals..”

Alright.. keeping my promise of at least having some form of update. Compounded by the fact that me and the missus watched Julie vs Julia over the week.. or was it over the weekEND? I can’t remember.. We enjoyed the movie thorou*@#$goughly (SPELL CHECK!!). Some semblence of our old routine is returning. We are watching movies again (YAY!).. albeit not at the theatre.. but nonetheless .. we enjoyed the movies and each other’s company. ..

I finally got to watch The Lost Room, a sci-fi miniseries from 2006. I’d been looking for this one for quite a while and was understandably over the moon when i finally got my hands on em. Reets sat in watching and she was also hooked.. we went through the whole series (6 hours) in one sitting. If Reets enjoyed it, it must be REALLY good enough cuz Reets doesn’t usually watch Sci-fi stuff.

This past week we also watched UP.. which i found very amusing, didn’t expect it to be the way it was.. but yeah good animation .. very good storyline..I recall us STARTING 500 days of Summer but turned it off after the first 10 minutes.. that movie was just dragging along too slowly for our liking. We started watching My Sister’s Keeper together but I had to run off for an errand so i didn’t watch all of it..

Moving back a little further, Reets and her Mom flew up to KL on the  Wednesday before last (2nd December) for a wedding on that weekend. My Mom, Dad, Adik and Khai had also planned a trip up to KL that weekend, to sort of celebrate my Dad’s birthday which was on the 3rd of December.  It was on and off for me for a while to actually join them for that little jaunt and a decision was made on the morning Reets left that I would not be making the drive up to Kuala Lumpur. That however changed when Adik called me out on a promise i made to join them in KL .. so … i went..

We checked in at the Crowne Plaza at almost 11-ish ..give or take about 1/2 hr. Mom had this idea that i should give Reets a surprise and drop by for a visit at her aunt’s and I though .. yeah .. good idea.. it is DAMN difficult to give that woman a surprise one.. DAMN DIFFICULT… the plan did backfire on me though. The family INSISTED I attend the wedding reception, and wasn’t dressed for the part. I wasn just dropping by to say hello and did not plan (nor pack) any form of attire befitting a wedding reception.I was in sandals, t-shirt.. and jeans.. One of her aunties said, ” Don’t worry, we’ll put you in a table tucked away out of sight so you won’t feel uncomfortable”..

I ended up sitting with the representatives of the Bride’s family.. First table.. in front.. seated just behind the VIPs.. and the VVIPs.. and the VVVIPs..  I must say though i enjoyed the whole day spent with Reets and her KL relatives. I remember that bit most for that weekend. Bought some stuff from Petaling Street.. and some essential shirts for work from the mall and Mid Valley. It was a good weekend.. met a few relatives.. made a few friends… it was cool ..

heh.. that was ‘t as hard as i thought it would be.. then i realised the only people reading this would prolly be only reets and me.. lol..so it shouldn’t be hard.. and I see now why Reets bugs me to update often..cuz one fine day.. seomwhere down the line.. we could read all this .. and laugh ..

till next time..

“.. well past expired..”

Two days… Two busloads (85 people).. 25 rooms (@the i-Hotel).. Two cameras (3 if you counted the video).. Two teams … two soccer matches (we lost the first and drew the second)… ONE BIG FAMILY OUTING..

That was what last weekend was about.. something put together at the very last minute (by regular standards).. Both Reets and I are now expired… wayy well past expired… Lucky Reets is on leave today.. we took about 8 gigs plus of pictures.. after sorting out the undesirables we are left with about 6 gb.  Reets was like a human dynamo. She was everywhere, organising the check ins.. taking pictures.. and keeping everything together..much props to her for that. Now comes the post processing..urgh…

on another note.. something I’m quite proud of.. even though it’s nothing to crow about.. i got the calendars printed.. and .. and yeah pretty proud of it..

Point to note Guy in the back row with the grey hair.. that’s my dad.. he claims he’s 18 years old, though internet sources reveal that he is actually 53 years young. Guy in red on the far right, that’s Khai(aka future brother-in-law). The team has members from 16 yrs old and up.. yeah my dad’s the oldest.

It was nice getting away from SG for a bit, though I wished Rita’d came along with us.

.. and waited…

If you’re wondering why Khai looked so zombified, it’s because we didn’t sleep the last night him, adik and me..lol. they couldn’t fix the floodlights so the game went on with 2 out of 4 floodlights..too dark for me to get any decent action shots.. pfshhh..

".. Road Trip – Muar.."

..’ver the weekend was literally a slew of up and downs.. I mean, I couldn’t ask for a greater weekend (ok I lied .. I could) but I had fun with my cousins and close family friends.

Even before the weekend arrived, there were issues on “who goes with who at what time in whose car”. My status was as usual PENDING cuz I didn’t know if I had to work on Saturday morning (I eventually did). So Reetz went up north in the morning with Mom, Dad and Adik in the sedan on Saturday morning, and I, being the goon that had to work, would follow later in the afternoon in the spacewagon.

So also starts the sequence of really @!^@%#^!#^# events.
1. My phone died at the office. I was charging it and when I took it off the charger to go home it just went off. Couldn’t switch it back on. Grrrrr. (more on this later if you actually make it through the whole post!)
2. The second wave of people driving up to Muar (me inclusive lah) recheduled to meet at 1740hrs instead of 1600hrs. You would think that they might to actually have more time to rest when we arrive? Pfshh.. Ok, no biggie (as compared with the first one) besides it was for a good reason.. Can’t blame them..
3. Fueled up the spacewagon, checked the oils.. and here’s the clanger. There was no refrigerant in the air conditioning. ain’t no way I’m heading up to Muar with no aircon in the car.. especially when its with 6 other people.. MUST HAVE AIR CON.. So went to the workshop to get a refrigerant refill..
4.”… mister ah.. no point you fill now hor.. fill now also i give you maximum one week will empty again because hor.. one of your aircon tubes are leaking..” WTF!!!.. ok i fill ANYWAY and deal with the leaks when I get back. $20bucks.. for comfort.. well worth the money.

not bad i killed some time, got things done and i have one more stop to make..

5. My next stop was the Sony Ericsson Service Center..Sent my phone in for diagnostics..

“.. Sir, we have to take a look at it.. it might be a firmware corruption.. in
any case, your phone should be ready in 3 working days. Also most likely that
everything in your phone memory would be wiped out..”

*ARGH!!!!!!!!!!!!*.. It’s my usual practice to backup my phone memory(mostly numbers) to my sim card at the end of the month.. AND the one time i forget.., pfshhh!!

Cursing my luck so far, I went back to Nenek‘s to wait for Wak Lan… Fell asleep.. he eventually came around at almost 1700hrs..

We (me, Abang Fendi, Wak Lan and gang that is), eventually cleared Johor Customs at the Second Link at about 1845hrs.. (yups).. we hooked up with JaliBoy at the Gelang Patah rest stop. Many curses, wrong turns, u-turns, and phone calls later.. we arrive in Muar at 2230hrs..

In the meanntime, the rest of the family were gearing the stuff for the wedding on Sunday morning. Since Adik and Reetz had Diaz with them, they went “shootabout”.

They also made this.. Bunga Rampai is essentially a traditional malay potpurri made up of mostly pandan leaves and Minyak Atar… err how to explain ah?

some of the other gifts and the Sireh Dara ..in progress..

The place we all stayed at wasn’t too shabby. It’s like a cross between a quaint, cosy bed and breakfast… and a transit motel room.. (my eyes opened big big when we were greated by 4 RED LANTERNS at the hotel gate!).. LoL..and for the love of god do NOT ask me WHY I didn’t take pictures of the place.

Settled in nicely. walked around to check out the surroundings abit.. the establishment was right on the bank of the river. Our party took up ten rooms .. i think.. and there was a courtyard too.. quite ok lah the place ignore what I said earlier..
